TIDEL PARK - CHENNAI

Tidel Park is a 12-storied building standing tall in the famous IT Highway (Old Mahabalipuram Road) in Taramani. The software park sprawls across a few acres of land in Taramani adjacent to the erstwhile film city.

The building has 2 basement floors, ground and 12 floors with the 2 basement floors dedicated for parking. The ground floor has the auditorium, food court, banks, TIDEL administrative office, BSNL, VSNL offices. The ground floor also has the ATMs, bank branches, retail outlets.

The swimming pool, play area, fitness center are located in the area near film city. The leading IT companies have occupied space in the prestigious campus with international facilities. The campus has its advantages to companies and a few dis-advantages to the employees.

The two-wheeler parking in the campus is free and the two-wheelers stand under the scorching Chennai heat. There is a paid two-wheeler parking in the basement which costs an employee Rs.300 per month. The plight of four-wheelers is also no different even though it is paid. The open car parking in the campus costs an employee Rs.750 per month and closed car parking in the basement area costs Rs.3000 per month.

If an employee thinks to bring his car once in a while, he has no option than parking the car outside the campus. The authorities don't allow parking of car inside the campus if a parking-slot is not allotted. The Tidel authorities are fleecing the employees with very high fees for car parking inside the premises. The authorities also levy fine to employees if the car is parked in a wrong slot.

The food court is the next where the operator RKHS charges more for feeding less. The quality of food at RKHS is often debated in discussion forums of companies at the premises. There have been lot of complaints about RKHS food. There is no difference between Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian food served at the food court as the same server handles both and uses the same hand to serve which many vegetarians have complained often. Most of the times one can see RKHS servers bringing veg food on top of non-veg food or vice versa.

The fee for the use of play area is well priced to attract the employees to relax themselves, but there are only few-takers for the same.
