Dr. Bharat Bhasker and K Srikumar launch a book "Recommender Systems in E-Commerce"

New Delhi - "Recommender Systems in E-Commerce", a book by IIM Lucknow's Prof. Bharat Bhasker and K Srikumar launchedThe book focuses on recommendation systems, process and techniques in e-commerce.

Internet technologies are the mainstay of today's world. To cater to the burgeoning technologies in the segment, Dr.Bharat Bhasker, Professor of Information Technology and Systems, at IIM Lucknow and K Srikumar have released a book on Internet technologies called "Recommender Systems in E-Commerce". Prof. Bharat Bhasker is a seasoned IT expert with extensive research and industry experience and K. Srikumar holds a doctoral degree in IT School of Business, University of Maryland, US; University of California, US; and University of Texas, US. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Master's and Doctorate degrees in Computer Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA.

Prof. Bharat Bhasker has been conferred the "Best Professor of Information Technology Management" at the recently concluded Asia's Best B-School Awards in Singapore. He was earlier conferred the "Best Professor of Information Technology" at Dewang Mehta Business School Awards at Mumbai in Sept 2008. In Jan 2004, he was honoured as the Best Researcher in the field of Electronic Commerce by the McMaster World Congress, Hamilton, Canada. In 2001 Rotary Club awarded him Scroll of Honor for his work and public service in the field of Information Technology and Management. He won NASA's Best Research Productivity Award in 1992 in recognition of the research contributions.

Prior to joining IIM Lucknow, Prof. Bhasker spent 11 years working in the leading research establishments in USA. Dr. Bhasker spent seven years with Goddard Space Flight Center of NASA in leading research and research management positions. His research contributions in Heterogeneous distributed database management systems, Heterogeneous distributed information management, Information retrieval from mass repositories, and Network Information Retrieval protocols won him a NASA's Best Research Productivity Award in 1992 in recognition of the research contributions. Dr. Bhasker was member of the High Performance Computer and Communications (HPCC) initiative of the NASA that lead to the Information Superhighway project. He worked for four years with MDL Information Systems and Sybase Inc., California, USA and was the architect of the massively parallel DBMS, Sybase MPP.

Dr. Bhasker is associated as Visiting Professor with ESSEC Business School, France, Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea, School of Business in University of Maryland, University of California and University of Texas, USA,

Prof. Bhasker serves in several advisory committees of Indian Government, is honorary expert to National Science Education and Research council of Canada, and is member of Governing Boards of several Engineering and Management Institutes. He has also served in several Information Technology task forces and committees of the UP Government.
