Loyola Institue of Business Administration Launches ESPIRE 2010

Chennai - Loyola Institute of Business Administration launched the 3rd edition of the Pan India Business Plan Competition "Espire 2010 - Passion to be an Entrepreneur" along with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI), Government of Tamil Nadu and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Chennai.

The inauguration ceremony was held on Sept 14,2010 at Loyola College campus. The first round of submissions, i.e. the Executive Summaries, in the Competition will be open till 10th October 2010.

The competition was inaugurated by Shri Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice-Chairman, Cognizant Technologies and was addressed by Father P. Christie, Director, LIBA, Mr. Sudeep Jain, IAS, Special Officer, EDI, Govt of TN and Mr. Ramaraj, President, TiE, Chennai.

In the inauguration speech, Shri Lakshmi Narayanan said, "In his inaugural address Lakshmi Narayanan, Vice-Chairman, Cognizant Technology Solutions, said the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises were the backbones of any sector in a country. They contributed up to 75 per cent of the GDP and provided 75 to 80 per cent employment opportunity."

There are a lot of people in India searching and finding jobs! So why not create jobs instead of searching for one?

LIBA, EDI and TiE believe in spurring the entrepreneurship ecosystem and they consider that Espire 2010 is an important step towards it. The business plan competition is an annual event in search for the young entrepreneur with the best idea.

STAGES OF THE EVENT

There are three tracks in the competition: Students, General Public and Social Entrepreneurship. There are four stages of evaluation:

  • Stage One: Executive Summary
  • Stage Two: Interim Business Plan, Stage
  • Stage Three: Mock Investment Round
  • Stage Four: The final presentation in front of an eminent jury

ESPIRE also helps participants creating business plans by conducting workshops that help get inspiration from successful entrepreneurs from the "My Story" session, generate ideas, and write cogent and comprehensive Executive Summary and Business Plan. There are over 50 workshops planned across the nation.
