Apollo Hospitals' Expansion Plans on Track

New Delhi - Indraprastha Apollo Hospital's ambitious expansion plans indicate an impressive upward trajectory. Honoring its commitment to cater to the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, the hospital will commission an additional 150 beds in August 2010.

Keeping with its tradition of best technology, Indraprastha Apollo will introduce Cyberknife, a robotic radiosurgery system that is a non-invasive alternative to surgery, for the treatment of both cancerous and non-cancerous tumors anywhere in the body. With this introduction, Indraprastha Apollo is poised to be the undisputed leader in cancer care. This Cyberknife will be the first to be installed in north India and will also serve the SAARC countries.

Apollo Delhi established the first successful liver transplant programme in India in 1998, completing over 400 liver transplants this year. Apollo Delhi's liver unit performed 268 Organ Transplants in the financial year 2009-10 (117 Liver and 151 Kidney transplants), an increase of 34% in liver transplants and 17% in kidney transplants compared to the previous year. With 90% success rate, the outcomes in the liver transplant program are commendable and comparable to the best centers in the world, while keeping the costs at one tenth of those abroad.

Apollo Hospitals Delhi introduced the facility of Endosonology a major advancement in diagnosing and treating gastro-intestinal and pancreato-biliary diseases. This facility is led by Dr Sandeep Bhargava. He trained and worked at Brown University School of Medicine, New York Presbyterian Hospital and Cornell University and has returned after 16 years in the US. This will further strengthen the Liver- Gastro Unit at Apollo Delhi, clearly ensuring our leadership position. Five more internationally qualified doctors have joined the hospital and several more have also applied. Going forward, the hospital will continue its focus on Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopedics, Transplants and Preventive Care.

Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, today, announced its annual audited results for the year ended 31st March, 2010. The Company has recorded total income of Rs. 436.48 crores in the year ended 31st March 2010, against Rs.405.88 crores in the previous year ended 31st March, 2009. The profit before tax (PBT) is Rs. 46.55 crores and the profit after tax (PAT) for the year is Rs. 31.06 crores. The hospital's commitment to continuous improvement and focus on clinical outcomes has resulted in significant improvement in resources utilization. The Board of Directors have recommended a dividend @16% (Rs. 1.60 per share) for the financial year 2009-10

CSR Activities

As part of the hospital's ongoing commitment to creating health awareness and providing preventive care to the general public, Apollo Delhi hosted 11 workshops on key health issues including tuberculosis, stress management, organ donation and transplantation, asthma, stroke, respiratory disorders wellness and Knee pain. Further, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, through the mobile health scheme service, which is done in collaboration with the Delhi Government in five economically depressed areas in the city, screened and treated almost 20,000 patients in 2009-2010. The hospital conducted almost 111 free camps in Delhi and the neighboring states, providing free check ups and basic treatment to an additional 15,681 people in 2009-2010. This year Apollo will extensively conduct heart and cancer screening programmes across the country. Through the Groups Save a Childs Heart (SACH) programme over 2,500 children have undergone cardiac surgeries completely free of cost.
