Faridabad - Manav Rachna International University organized a two day International conference and exhibition on nanotechnology. The conference was inaugurated on 16th April by Hon'ble Shri Deepender Singh Hooda, Member of Parliament; Shri Satnam Singh, CMD Power Finance Corporation at the MRIU Campus.
Keeping in mind the significance of research and innovation, Manav Rachna International University displayed their leading edge in R & D to an audience of corporate developers, investors and research leaders. The conference had discussions on global nanotechnology trends and opportunities at the forefront of innovation and also aimed to provide exposure to engineering students and the faculty in developing curricula encasing Nanotechnology as well as Solar Energy making it a path finder for the coming generations.
Participating Companies Prof. Jorma Antero Virtanen, University of Jyväskylä, Finland, Discoverer of World's Smallest Battery; deliberated and discussed developments in this field along with other Indian Scientists like Dr. R.K Kotnala and Dr. Shailesh N. Sharma from National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi, and other internationally acclaimed researchers present at the conference also highlighted the share advances, perspectives, new ideas and breakthrough concepts in nanotechnology.
"When you start manipulating particles at that 'Nano' level, they behave differently than they do at a much larger scale. They change colors and properties. Cancer drugs, for example, can target bad cells more precisely, Engineers can make super strong, super light composite materials for aircraft and even fabrics for doctors can be made to kill micro-organisms. And the conference is a way for us to showcase some of the good things that are going on in the field of nanotechnology and provide an insight to the scope this field has in Indian research and industry," said Dr. Chakarvarti, convener and Director, Research and Development at MRIU.
The goal of the conference was to clearly identify nanotechnological trends, new tools and resources for nanotechnology research, new nanotech based products and to encourage collaborative efforts in the field of nanotechnology.
The first day of the conference saw discussions on nano solar photovoltaics and development of the new types of solar cells, carbon nanotubes and related systems. Experts from NPL, Delhi also spoke upon the ethical issues and nano technology and the ill effects of nano particles and printed photovoltaics, deployment of nano science and tech for development of renewable energy, silicon solar cells, ALD technology and its applications were the key areas of discussion today (17 April).
The day 1 of the conference had an overwhelming response from the students, researchers and corporates from Delhi and adjoining areas and more than 500 entries were marked for the second day.
Appreciating the overwhelming response, queries addressed, quest for knowledge of the delegates, Dr. O.P.Bhalla, Hon'ble Chancellor MRIU, said, "Nanotechnology is set to revolutionize medicine, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, agricultural, food processing & several other industries. Industry has to adopt and embrace this new technology as this might change the market dynamics in future and conferences like this are an intellectual platform for discussing the various aspects of developments and collaboration, exploring the possibilities of Indian industry to take part in the research of nanotechnology related products and identification of possibilities for industry from partner countries for initiating and setting up new ventures."
Shri Paramveer Singh, Minister of Agriculture, Co-op, Animal Husbandary and Dairying & Fisheries, Govt. of Haryana, the chief guest of the valedictory function, appreciated the initiatives taken by the R&D Cell of MRIU and highlighted the need of development of solar and nano technology for developing India as a super power and scope of these technologies in areas of medicine, biotechnology, agriculture, education and other industries.
Exhibition:
The exhibition on Nano and solar photovoltaic systems, products, modules and devices would remain open for both the days. The participants may visit and have interaction with the team leaders/representatives as and when mutually convenient. The participating companies from abroad include BENEQ from Finland, PICOSUN Ltd., NAPS Systems, Moser Baer, Tata BP Solar India, URJA.
